The Warmth I Learned from a Small Café near Sindae

When preparing my lessons or working on personal projects, I often used the library. The library is a quiet and comfortable place for concentration, but sometimes I miss human warmth. In a library, conversation is not really possible.
A few months ago, a friend in her sixties named Ally, with whom I meet every week to discuss a book, suggested that we meet at a small café in the Sindae area. The café is called “8 Gong.”It turned out to be exactly the place I had been looking for.
The owner of this café is an exceptionally warm person. She genuinely cares about her customers and enjoys friendly conversations without ever being intrusive. Little by little, she naturally brings people closer to one another.
Over time, I became familiar with the regular customers. Although we differ in age and background, everyone feels comfortable there. Sometimes we share fruit or cookies, exchange brief greetings, and smile together. This café gradually became like a second family to me.
Sadly, the café owners will be moving to Boseong after Lunar New Year, around February 18, 2026. This news has been difficult for all the regular customers.
